10 reasons people unfollow you on Twitter

Someone just unfollowed me on Twitter!

If someone has unfollowed you, don’t sweat it!  It doesn’t automatically mean you’ve done something wrong.

If a lot of people unfollow you all at once, then (and only then) is it time to look at how you’re tweeting, what you’re tweeting and even at how much you’re tweeting.

10 reasons someone might unfollow you are:

1.  By mistake– they were trying to unfollow someone else.

2.  You didn’t follow them back

3.  They realised you don’t live in their part of the world, and they only follow locals.

4.  They’re trying to target a certain demographic of Twitterers, and you don’t fit the profile.

5.  You just tweeted 10 tweets in a row about your own business. You don’t enage in conversation much with anyone.

6.  You just tweeted about something that offends them.

7.  They find your tweets dead boring.

8.  They’re trying to keep at the top of your followers list, and therefore keep following and unfollowing you. (such people might find themselves swiftly blocked!)

9.  You tweet quotable quotes all day long, but nothing that tells anyone who YOU are.

10.  You’re tweeting to the wrong group of twitterers– your followers have no tweetin’ idea what you’re talking about.
