Social shopping is pretty much like overhearing that woman on the bus talk about her latest shopping trip– y’know, the women wearing the boots and accessories that look like they were made for YOU.
You listen a little closer, hoping to hear where she finds the stuff you’d sell your soul for.
Social shopping is much the same, except you can experience it online! And it’s evolving… some websites are taking social shopping to a whole new level.

At thisnext.com you can recommend products and have a squiz of what others are recommending.
If you find someone with taste like yours, you can see all of her/his recommendations on their profile, and even befriend and recommend them. You can set up your own profile (where you can link to your own website – hey, every little bit helps, no?)
There are recommendations for cities around the world, such as : New York, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, London– and Sydney.

What’s so cool about etsy.com is well, everything…
Etsy is filled with the eclectic, the beautiful and the unique. It is handmade treasures from around the world.
You can type in the place where you live and find etsy stores near you. You can sell your own goodies. And you join etsy groups according to your location, craft or interest– and communicate with other etsy lovers via forums and chat. Lots to love here!
The graphic at the top of this post is from my Etsy favourites list. You can keep pages of your favourite items, see who else has favourited the same item (who ‘hearts’ it) and even favourite other Etsy members.
